Thanks Open Question: Wood staining project gone wrong...help.?I am staining an old window sill. I sanded down completely and applied one coat of stain. This was fine, but to darken I applied a second coat. After 48 hours it still wasn't dry so I followed the advice of a previous question and wiped it with a rag dampened with mineral spirits. This did the trick but turned the entire sill white with a milky look to it. The white disappears if I rub it again with the mineral spirits but returns once dry. It looks absolutely ridiculous. Do I need to resand and start over or can I reapply stain over the white residue and then finish with lacquer? Open Question: curtain color for bathroom an color change?I am having bathroom redone-I think I messed up on wall color(blue) With wainscotting on bottom half(white) The blue is to bright(cant change it now) I have tub tiles that have blue specks an taupe color. I need to know what color curtains(I thought of a taupe) Not sure what to use for privacy since one window is over tub(no choice in that matter either) Can i tone this down with curtain color an what color?
