Open Question: will a brown wall make my fireplace stand out?We are remodeling a really old house with a fireplace. I am stripping and resealing the fireplace, which is solid oak. It is going to be light when I finish. The walls are going to be toupe, but I thought about painting the wall the fireplace is on brown. I thought it would make the grain in the wood stand out more, but my bff thinks it won't look right. What do you think? Open Question: I need color ideas for my new house...?I love brown and toupe, and I was thinking of continuing this throughout the house with different accent colors... I know I am doing red in the kitchen (I think...) So I thought of doing toupe walls in the dining room with brown and red accents. I thought of doing this in the living room also, but I have a green recliner I would like to keep, so I thought of doing one brown wall (where the fireplace is) and the rest toupe, with green curtains and accents. (brown couch with green pillows). What do you think, and does anyone have any ideas for the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. (Im not really worried about the upstairs now...) Thanks for any help, I want it to look nice but I do not know a lot about decorating.
