Open Question: Renovating with decorative plater lath walls ?I am looking to buy a duplex unit as a rental property. The house was built in 1925 and has plaster lath walls with some serious decorative texture applied. What is the best way to go about getting a flat wall? I have a feeling that tearing down the plaster and hanging up drywall may be a huge project... but sanding down the plaster texture may be huge as well. Or would it be easier to apply more plaster to make a smoother top finish? I also have a concern with tenants banging nails in the walls and ruining the plaster anyway so maybe drywall may be worth it. However, their colour does not match with that of the original tiles and, as a result, the floor looks very patchy.
