Open Question: What is the proper name for patio or (deck, balcony etc) made of concrete?I know this question might sound a little stupid. My neighbors all have beautiful wood patios on the back of their houses and I would like to have one made of concrete with iron along the border of it. I have seen a few in the city. I want it so I can place a patio en-closer on top of it, but I don't know the proper terminology. When I see certain homes that have it, it appears as if the iron is drilled into the house and 2 to 4 iron poles is holding it up (securely). They appear to have one large slab of concrete as the base floor. Can anyone help me. I don't want to go to a contractor and tell him i want a concrete patio and he is thinking that i want a pathway made of concrete.
