Open Question: What keeps laminate floors from shifting?I understand that you should leave a 1/4 gap at the walls when installing laminate flooring then cover it with quarter round. I just don't understand what keeps the floor from shifting and creating gaps. Also, do you leave the gap at all walls, on all sides? Open Question: Increasing the ceiling height in the second story/top floor?My SO and I just bought our first home and are now in the process of fixing it up a bit before we move in. One project we're undecided on as of yet is the bathroom on the second floor. Most of these style homes in our area don't have a bathroom on the second floor, so it being there was a huge draw for us. However, because the ceilings angle downward both ends, it's impossible to put the shower anywhere but in the middle of the room (length wise, not width wise). I would love to somehow get rid of those downward angles, which make us lose so much usable space! Behind them on both sides are crawl in attic space areas that I haven't crawled back into yet; not sure if that makes a difference in how this would work. We don't mind losing that space, though. I'm curious about the difficulty of this, and perhaps experiences or costs. We're already going to replace the roof, so I thought it might go kind of hand in hand with that, but I know nothing about these things! Open Question: i have these very small and thin transparent bugs living in my room can someone tell me what they are?they craw on the wall and i think later in there life they grow wings and turn a little darker. and they are not spring tails. Open Question: What color should you paint a room with pink carpeting?My mom bought a house that was previously owned by an elderly couple.. who obviously had picked the color of the carpeting in my bedroom while blindfolded. I absolutely HATE the color pink.. both the walls and carpet are pink. I can't change the carpeting (however in a few years we are putting hardwood floors down throughout the top floor.. but again, a few YEARS). so I'm painting to lessen my pain.
