Open Question: My friend bought a very expensive painting...And the thing is UGLY! Should I be honest?My friend spent over 1000$ on a painting for her chic urban apartment. She has the money and can afford stuff like this...but honestly it looks like a painting of turds! I am not joking, this painting is brown and earth tones and looks like a 5 year old was finger painting or something...and this is supposedly by some 'big name' hot artist. Personally, I think it looks like a baby diaper exploded on a canvas then was smeared around! My friend said to me, "I am not sure about it yet." and she may trade the artist for another painting of his. She asked me, "What do You think of it?" And I told her "Um...it's different." and casually said it isn't my style. Everyone has a right to like what they want. I know art is a matter of personal taste but would I be rude or tacky if I just told her, "The painting looks like a pile of turds. It is the ugliest work of art I have ever seen and I would NEVER want this in my house! If you like it that's cool but honestly NO it looks terrible on you wall and it would look terrible anywhere!" So should I say what I really think? Should I be blunt about it and be like, "Friends don't let friends hang poop on their wall! No offense but IT'S UGLY and you paid way too much for it!"? Or should I play it "nice" and let her know my opinion in a polite way? Help!! What should I do? I already told her it wasn't my style and when she asked why I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying what I really thought it resembled...My friend is a sensitive "artsy" type so I didn't want to sound mean... Open Question: How Can I Convince My Father to Let Me Completely Change My Room's Design?Okay, here's the deal. My father wants to give me a bigger bedroom in my house and we've been able to agree on most aspects of it. The only thing he won't let me change is the wall paint and carpeting, and for stupid reasons. The carpet and walls are this disgusting shade of brown, and he won't change the carpet for me because when my mother bought it for the room years back, it cost her $1,500.00! My father also says if he can find a place to put it, he'll remove it, but he completely overlooks the fact that we have a completely empty basement with more than enough space for it! The carpet is old and torn so it needs to be replaced anyways, and the walls have huge spots of white on them because we had to cover up huge holes in the walls that my cousin made. So the room looks hideous! I told him I have more than enough money saved up for all the changes, but he still won't budge. What do I do? Open Question: Need help deciding what to do with the room inside of my room!?Well, my family and I are moving into a new house, and my room has this mini room inside of it. You know how some people have bathrooms inside of their rooms? It's like that, except it's just a regular room, not a bathroom. Also it's a little bigger. What should I do with it? My parents dont want to put a TV in my room, and not a computer either because they need to 'supervise' me on the internet. I was thinking maybe a room where I can relax. I could put a little table and bean bags so when my friends come over, we have a place to just sit and talk. Also my CD player so I can listen to music. Open Question: What would be very hard to get off glass?I'm trying to get something in a marker-like form (so nothing like paint) that would be applicable to glass, and would be very hard to remove if not impossible. I've tried a silver sharpie marker and it's almost there on the hardness scale, I had to rub it for 5 minutes to get it off. It's for art not vandalizing. I removed the wallpaper in one room, and discovered that the plaster has little hairs poking out everywhere - almost as if the walls have stubble.
