Open Question: Do the designers on the home design shows get discounts?Have you ever noticed when watching Design to Sell, Design on a Dime, Clean House, etc.. they have budgets of $1,000-$3,000 but when you try to do it with the same budget, you end up paying 10's of thousands more. Why is that? and what makes it worst sometimes on Designed to Sell, Taniya and Lisa buy furniture, alot of accessories and gut the kitchen and get new cabinets, stainless steel appliances (which I hate), redo the bathroom all with a $2,000 budget. How they do it? They should tell how they get all this stuff with a small budget; even if we don't buy the accessories we still pay more than $2,000. I remember when my aunt wanted her kitchen upgraded and tested to see if she can come in close to the home design shows small budget, but end up going past $5,000 and she didn't replace the cabinets, but she did add more cabinets for storage (3 to be exact) and bought new appliances (not stainless steel), and replaced the old flooring with tile (which I hate in a kitchen).She has a co-worker who has a family contracting business and they did the work. They painted, put in the 3 cabinets,put in a back splash and put the floor down (they put it on top of the old floor, instead of removing the previous floor first) and switched out the appliances, but it still cost my aunt over $12,000 for upgrading the kitchen. Her coworker charged her in the $2,000 range ( I think she said she paid them $2,500, can't remember it was 2.5 years ago,but it wasn't 2,000 even). It bugs me every night when I watch the shows and they work wonders with a small budget. Open Question: i need help figuring my room out..?k well im paining my room and it has a ledge on 2 walls, then there is one wall that is completely bare. i painted my whole room pink. and above my ledge is pink and black strips. what should i do doe the bottom of the ledge? and what should i do for the bare wall? [i was thinking a drawing] but what should i do?
