Open Question: What is the traditional interior design for a home built 1920?

I'd like to know what was typical in interior design for a home in this period. I'm buying a cottage style home built in 1920, and I'd love to integrate some of the traditional style with my contemporary taste. What was popular in color, line, etc? Any suggestions for websites that I can check out would be so appreciated =) Thanks!

Open Question: how does an upholsterer calculate price?

For example, if I'm having a fully-upholstered sofa re-covered, does an upholsterer charge by the total square foot, the level of difficulty according to the fabric pattern chosen, simply by time estimate, etc?

Open Question: Which color scheme for my bedroom do you like better?

Hi! I'm a 13 year old girl, and I have a few ideas for my bedroom but I just can't choose one! So my first idea - I'm thinking of doing all the walls but one like a soft blue or a refreshing blue-green. Then the other wall would be a warm coffee color, or some creamy beige or something. Then as an accent color I would have a nice bright pink to give off more energy. Like my bedsheets, a few pics, and maybe flowers. Second idea - My second idea is just slightly different, I would have the 3 walls again that creamy color, but the other wall would be a bright, vibrant green. And on one of the cream colored walls I hope to have a green flower painted. Except, it wouldn't be the actual flower it would be just the outline of it. What I'm imagining seems cool! And then again pink would be the accent color. 3 hours ago - 4 days left to answer. I know I've already asked this, but hey, the more opinions, the better!

Open Question: If i wanted to, how would you make offset "curves" on a ceiling?

If i wanted to make my own ceiling for my restaurant like The paperfish Restaurant made by Clive Wilkinson... http://www.clivewilkinson.com/ .... How would the process be about doing it? I cannot see the process in my head of how to do it. would you use the likes of drywall? I love the styles of how you can use those shapes to form a room that looks amazing. Does anyone have any Ideas how to accomplish this? I love the idea of accomplishing something by hand and would love to take on a project myself using my own creativity of a design.

Open Question: Where can I buy affordable furniture?

I need to get furniture but don't have a lot of money. I want a modern look without having to take out a loan. I also don't want to buy second hand because most stuff is outdated and also for sanitary reasons. I like some of the Ikea stuff but wonder if you've found similar stores with better prices. I live in Maryland and don't mind having my stuff shipped as long as it doesn't bring up the price too much. I need sofas, lamps, desks, chairs, bedroom stuff. Etc. Any ideas? Thanks.
