Open Question: where will i get good wooden furniture with reasonable prices in mumbai?Open Question: Need some ideas for art in a dining room?I'm helping a friend do some decorating in her new apartment. Her dining room is dark blue with white trim. We've discussed what can be done about brightening it up. I've painted houses professionally, so I know what repainting would take. We decided to try to avoid repainting and find other ways to bring light to it. Thankfully she has a nice dining set made of light-colored wood, and there is a rather large built-in hutch on one wall, which is white. I'm thinking of adding some ambient lighting to that. Now, the current "artwork" is dark, and I've told her we need to change that to help balance the room. She has a stunning painting of horses that I think would look really good in there, and I'm going to paint her something, too. (most likely another one with horses). However, I think we need at least 3-4 more things that would compliment the horses - without going overboard with them. I realize horses in a dining room sounds a bit... well, different, but there aren't many other options and she lives on a fixed income. Plus, as I said, the one painting she has is really quite beautiful. I've thought of adding sconces, but I could use some ideas for maybe 2 other paintings. Thanks so much for your help! It's absoutely gorgeous and, according to ebay, it's worth about $650.00. It has all its part, the only issue is that one of the arms is broken probably due to not being packed well. Any one know how much it might be worth? I'm from a small town, so I dont think that many antique dealers around here will know anything about it. AND who would be interested in a chandelier that needs repair? Cuz, I need money now. Any advice would be great. Thank!!! Open Question: Laminate vs. Wood flooring for 160 sq ft living room?I will be purchasing a condo in a couple weeks and the living room carpet is in terrible shape. I am considering replacing it with either laminate (made to look like wood) or wood flooring. My question is, for someone on a pretty tight budget, which material would you recommend? I know that laminate tends to be cheaper, but I don't want to sacrifice on look and quality. Is laminate wood easily identifiable as "fake wood" and therefore a turn-off to some people? Or can a comparable look to real wood be achieved? Also, I am curious for an estimate on total cost including installation. I will probably work with Home Depot (unless someone has a suggestion otherwise). I would remove existing carpet and perform any other preparation necessary. I would be purchasing flooring no more than $2.00 per square foot. For a room approximately 160 square foot, what do you think would be my total cost including flooring, any underlayment & trim, and installation? Would there be a big difference in total cost of installing laminate vs wood? More Recent Articles
