Open Question: Can I Install Exterior French Doors In My Basement?

I have a regular full size, unfinished basement. I would like to install an exterior door to the basement before I finish it but not sure if that is possible. I wanted to know if it was possible to dig it out so that there would be a natural ramp leading out into the yard and install french style doors? If it is possible how would I build the walls on the side of the ramp so that the dirt wouldn't cave in? And also is that to big of a whole for my foundation or not? Are there directions to do this or contractors that specialize in it?

Open Question: What is the most functional kitchen sink configuration?

We are redoing our kitchen. We have three options for a stainless steel, 18 gauge kitchen sink configuration. 1 deep bowl OR 60/40 or 50/50 bowl. What is best and most functional?

Open Question: Floor is a bit unlevel for new sheet vinyl. Will I feel the flaws underfoot? Best way to level first?

I tore up the old carpet in my basement, and the tiles that were glued under that. The floor had some uneven areas so I bought some spackle like floor leveler and hit those areas. When I laid the sheet vinyl down, and trimmed it (10x12 foot basement area) I noticed you could still feel a few bumps underfoot. 1. Should I level further, or will the vinyl be fine as is? 2. Should I lay glue or tape the edges (I'm worried about stretching due to basement temp. changes) 3. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated... I am by no means an expert at this (first home) Thank you!

Open Question: gloss paint problem, need help. Thanks in advance?

how long will this take to dry and is cold or hot air the best (quickest) way? hiya guys. Got a really awful picture given to me, the frame is nice so i decided to paint my own on the back of the original. Took the picture out to discover it was painted onto 'wood' you know the pressed pieces with like a really smooth finish to them. anyway decided to paint anyway using a white gloss (the only white i thought i had in the house) as a backing colour. My question is though how long is this going to take to dry, my mind is set on painted my masterpiece but can't until the stupid white gloss has dried. And to top it all off i have since found some white matt paint which i know would have probably been dry by now. should i use the hair dryer to speed things up, a fan, or is there a nice quick way i can 'wash' the gloss off so i can use the matt? please help Thanks guys Ace well to be honest i thought i'd made it quite clear that i painted on the back of the painting but never mind

Open Question: What size rug would make my living room look bigger?

Here' 2 iphone pics of my small living room: http://www.flickr.com/photos/catherineshi/4265946111/?rotated=1&cb=1263231802878 http://www.flickr.com/photos/catherineshi/4266692448/ The approx size (from the armchair end to the sofa end) is 187cm x 200cm or 6'2" x 6'7" (This is just to give you a clue, no need to calculate exact size rug I need) My apartment is mainly contemporary styled and dark colored, so I think a touch of lightness would help. Also I'm thinking about placing an end table and floor lamp in the corner where the armchair and sofa meet. Any tip on improving the decor without too much expense would be appreciated.
