Everything is beautiful except in the living room there is an entire wall covered in the most ugly stone I have seen in my life. It covers the entire wall and the rocks are really porous and have holes in them. They actually look like sponges. Anyways, the fireplace is vented throughout the house. We are wanting to know if we can use like a chisel and bit by bit take the rock covering off around the fireplace and then just put a regular fireplace in it's place. Is this safe to do and could we do it ourselves??
