Open Question: Making an hourglass? a REAL one, not that water bottle crap?

I am really into hourglasses, and I want to make one that is personal. I just don't even know where to start! Everything has to be made by somebody, right? So, if anybody knows how these things are made, that would be great. I'm talking an hour glass that is almost 2 feet tall (think the hourglass from the Wizard of Oz), so what ideas does anyone have for glass or clear plastic i can use for the actual hourglass, then what to do about the posts and top/bottom.

Open Question: Dorm room decorating?

Next year I'm going to be a freshman in college and I'm not sure how to decorate my room. Specifically, I'm not sure what to do with my walls. How do I put up posters and pictures in a nice looking way? Should I have curtains or some sort of drapes to make the room look nice? I really don't want my walls to be bare! Any other dorm decorating tips are welcome, too- thanks!

Open Question: Tiny kitchen in apartment?

I moved from a smaller to a larger apartment, and had to sacrifice lots of storage space in the kitchen in my small apartment, for an overall larger apartment. I have barely any room for anything, and have no idea where to start to try to help. My kitchen and dining room look like a disaster because I have no room; cabinet or counter space. What are some things I can do to help utilize the space more?

Open Question: Has anyone done a major home remodel?

we are thinking of tearing the roof off our rambler and adding a second story. This will be a major project and very expensive. We plan to rent an apartment while the major work is in progress. Has anyone done a project like this and regretted it? I'm currently researching this, and a lot of people say that it was such a major headache...they wish they hadn't bothered. Would love to hear of other peoples experiences. Thanks
