Most sources say for a smooth wall you should sand or at least spot sand after the first coat of primer. Here are some questions if anyone can answer some. Lets begin! 1) What's the best way to remove drywall dust? I have read about using brooms, dry swiffer dusters, wet sponges, tack cloths. ( I would like to avoid the wet sponge route ) 2) Should I sand after the first or second coat of primer? I know I don't "have" to sand, but I want smooth walls. 3) Is it advisable to spot sand after priming or plan on sanding the entire wall? 4) Is there a primer on the market that prevents the "drywall fuzzies", or a primer that dries smooth without sanding? 5) If I must sand, is a pole sander easy to use? We have new drywall in practically the entire house. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! My house is yellow with white shutters. I need a new light for my little porch .I want to do something like a lantern style ...Any ideas or pictures would be great ! Open Question: Advice on a small kitchen extension please ...?I have a small kitchen that opens onto a lean-too and what was a outside WC. It is relatively solid - brick built and with a plastic roof. It also has plumbing and electricity. We would like to extend the kitchen out into it, changing the shape of the lean-too slightly, and creating a long gallery style kitchen and a larger second WC/Bath where a toilet already exists. We would also like double patio doors (which we have already bought second hand) fitted to open onto the garden. Other things to consider are that the boiler and an outside drain would have to be reallocated in the process. We're looking to do this as cheaply as possible and don't need the finished article as we are happy to do much of the finishing off (tiling/laying floors etc) ourselves. We just need a builder to build a watertight extension with electricity, plumbing (fitted bathroom suite), kitchen, a new roof and fitted doors/windows etc. We will be getting quotes from builders but in the meantime wondered if anybody would be able to guess a very rough ballpark figure that we could expect to pay ? I have NO idea what to expect ... Or if you have had the same job done yourself - any tips you could offer ? The size of the lean-too is roughly 2.30m x 5.50m. Thanks ever so much for your time and help in advance :) Annabel More Recent Articles
