Open Question: Bathroom renovation, permits, code violations? We are planning to renovate our bathroom. I have read the permit information on my city website but I'm still a little confused. We'll definitely need permits, but at what point in the process do I apply for them? We need to do a fair amount of demo first. Also, our house has some preexisting code issues (for example, a hallway for an addition that was built too narrow for code). If we start the permit/inspection process are we going to end up being forced to change a lot more than we're planning on at this point? This is in WI.
