Open Question: Should we install hardi-plank over existing siding?Location is Houston, Tx The home (about 900 sq ft) currently has wood lap siding nailed directly to the studs with a layer of felt paper underneath. There is also vinyl over the wood siding. We ripped some of the vinyl off, and the siding appears to be in good shape. However, we would prefer the look of hardie siding. Is it okay to install hardi over existing siding, and if so, would we need to add another layer of felt or maybe tyvek over the wood before installing the new siding? Or is completely replacing the siding our best option? Your answers, thoughts, recommendations, suggestions are greatly appreciated...
