Open Question: If you are supposed to prime walls before painting? Why is a 2nd and 3rd coat of paint not an issue. In other words, if paints sticks better to primer, why is the 2nd coat where paint is sticking to paint not an issue? I was always told that primer served these purposes: 1) It does a good job of covering colors when you are changing colors 2) It covers stains on the wall in prep for paint 3) It gives paint a good surface to adhere My true reason for asking this question is that my walls are in fairly decent shape and im not making a big change in color (just a subtle tint). So, why do I need to prime? Oh, And, I can't tint my primer because I intend to use it for multiple rooms Open Question: HELP! need color ideas?my hallway is painted muted gold. i want to paint my dining room but i'm not sure what color to use. the room opens up to the hallway. my kitchen is opened up to the same hallway and i've painted it Cornelia red at the top, beige at the bottom. i've been trying since october to figure out a color but i'm stumped. should i paint all 4 walls a color or 1 and the others neutral.
