Open Question: What decorating style do I have?

I like the following: Simple, clean-looking furniture. I'm not into the finicky "romantic" overly detailed pieces. The color combo of black, white, and different shades of greys. Color block, but mostly mixing neutrals (like black, tan, white, etc.) and maybe one other color like a baby blue or deep magenta or green. Bold pops of colors. All white rooms. Graphic prints in small doses like small graphic wall art. I really love this in the greys, black, and white. Those vases with branches or simple, tall plants in them. Bamboo. I mean real bamboo like in a vase in the corner, not bamboo furniture. Dark wood. Silver. Cool, sort of exotic touches like a square clock, abstract artwork, and unique shelves like these: http://www.contemporary-home.co.uk/images/contemporary-shelves.jpg And the ones on the left: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://homedesigninterior.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/teen-bedroom-interior-from-tumideispa.jpg&imgrefurl=http://homedesigninterior.com/search/red%2Bsofa%2Bchair&usg=__3YHq974ncwUCCM-0zzF0AZEH804=&h=316&w=520&sz=31&hl=en&start=7&tbnid=W6wD21pe_-78xM:&tbnh=80&tbnw=131&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcontemporary%2Bteen%2Bbedroom%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dms-rim%26sa%3DN%26channel%3Dbrowser%26ie%3DUTF-8%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1 I've been meaning to redecorate my bedroom, but I don't know what interior decorating style to shop for, so your answers are greatly appreciated. So what is my decorating style? Thanks in advance! M

Open Question: Are there issues with wood flooring living in Florida (Tampa or Miami areas)?

I will be moving to Florida later this year (probably either Tampa or Miami area), and have been looking at homes online in both of those areas. I see that ceramic tile throughout the house is pretty common. I currently live in Oklahoma, and tile is commonly used here as well, but is usually restricted to areas like the entrance hall, laundry room, bathrooms, and kitchens. Here in the midwest wood flooring is very common throughout the homes too, and I really love the look and feel of wood flooring much better. I'd like my next home to have wood flooring throughout the house (with the exception of possibly the laundry room and bathrooms). My question is this: why is wood flooring not common in Florida? Is ground water/humidity/moisture/warping etc. a pretty common problem with this type of flooring, hence the use of so much ceramic tile? Can anyone offer any insight as to why I shouldn't have wood flooring installed in a home in Florida?

Open Question: How often do you move your furniture around?

I move mine, at least one room around a month. Is that crazy? I feel like I have to do it. and I love how it looks when it's moved around, but then I get bored of it in a few weeks..

Open Question: What Color(s) would you chose to go with tan walls, white baseboards, and white office furniture?

We are moving to a new home and our third bedroom (9x9) is going to be our office/craft room and I want to keep the room light and airy feeling. What pops of color or colors would you use? Also I am really over red...it's in my home quite a bit, so no red. Thanks

Open Question: Can you give me ideas with a brick wall pattern?

We have built a gabled roof over our concrete deck. The railing is white vinyl with brick pillars. The ceiling of the new roof is grey tongue and groove with a ceiling fan and recessed lighting. On top of the outer two pillers are white decorative pillars on top of the brick as well as the two pillars up against the house. There is a patio door coming out onto the deck. We are going to brick that entire wall. which is just as wide as the deck (the two pillars will break it off from the siding that is on the house). The wall goes all the way up and will be gabled. My question is: what can we do to break up that huge wall of brick? Maybe some kind of stone shelves, if so where? We would like any other suggestions please. Thanks

Open Question: What color should I paint my room?

I have a very light green bedspread and I'm looking for a beach feeling. I don't want to paint my room green again because my room has always been green and I want a change. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/roomView.asp?SKU=119406 (The link to the bedding). Any suggestions?

Open Question: Spray Paint Counter Tops?

I subscribe to an E-mail newsletter called "Dollar Stretcher" and today's e-zine there was a tip sent in by a subscriber describing how she spray painted her counter tops. It seems interesting but I wonder if it's a good idea. Isn't there a risk that the paint will chip? Any input about this? Here is the original article. Countertop Aid My husband and I bought a foreclosure that needed a lot of love and a lot of improvements. We inheirited white cabinets and white countertops, and in a family with three messy kids, that's less than ideal. Several of my neighbors have installed granite countertops for about $4,000, even new Formica countertops were going to be over $1,000. Neither was an option for us. I took the plunge and painted my countertops. I cleaned them with denatured alcohol, primed them with an oil based primer, spray painted them with granite paint and put on four coats of polyurethane to seal them. The finished product looks awesome! I couldn't be more pleased and wish I had done it years ago! The cost of my project? Roughly $100! S.
