We want to remove this and install a thin profile (that is rated and acceptable for concrete sub floor installation) hardwood flooring. However, the cost and hassle to remove the existing engineered wood flooring is more than the new hardwood itself. Could I simply add an additional layer of plywood on top of the existing engineered hardwood (to get the correct height for nails) and treat this as my sub floor, ready for new installation? Neither me or my husband care too much for the yellow brick and were thinking of painting it. A good friend of ours is a professional painter and said he would do it for us if we buy the supplies and everything.. but here's my question... I've seen a lot of painted brick homes that look really bad but I've seen a few that look good, too. I know our friend is an excellent painter and have seen his work so I'm not worried about that... but I am worried about what the painted brick will look like a few years down the road?
